The city of Perm — widespreading over the banks of the most magnificent Ural river Kama — is situated in the very heart of Russia. Previously for decades our city was the area of restricted admittance, being one of the centers of Russian heavy and defence industry. Nowadays Perm — the biggest Western Ural city — welcomes everybody, exposing its history, culture and hospitality. In 2008 Perm is celebrating a jubilee of 285 years.

In its early years Perm was a factory — furnished and merchant Ural town of numerous wooden one-or-two-stored houses and stone temples of several religious confessions. The today`s Perm numbers more than 1400 streets and side-streets. One of them — Sibirskaya street — started from the landing stage and piers of the river Kama, passed by the richest Perm merchants and manufacturers mansions and ended at the town main gates with double-headed eagles on the initial mile-stones. Behind the gates the street jointed with «the State Road» — The Sibirsky Tract (High Road), which had connected European and Asian parts of the country.

By the middle of the XIX century Sibirskaya street became the main street of Perm and here numerous cultural and historic buildings are still situated: the Opera and Ballet Theatre, Perm State Teaching University, the Puppet Theatre, the City-hall and Headquarters of local authorities, Dyuagilev`s Mansion, number of offices, banks, the best restaurants and clubs and the new business-type hotel «Sibiria», preserving in its name a piece of Perm history.
